SAGSE QLD INC

LOGO updated 2015

SAGSE Qld. Inc. was founded over 30 years ago as a non-profit organization comprising a committee of people interested in the promotion of German language and culture. The committee works on a voluntary basis to send up to 30 Queensland school students as a group to Germany on exchange and to place a similar number of students from Germany in Queensland Homes every year. The exchange is open to all students from state & private schools.

The SAGSE exchange is for 6.5 weeks, leaving at the end of November and returning mid-January. The cost of the exchange is approximately $4,500 + pocket money (may change according to the state of the dollar and inflation). The airfares, insurances and a one-week bus tour to Salzburg & Bavaria are included in the cost. Students wishing to participate in this exchange undergo an interview and when their relevant family members have a Blue Card, will host a German student for 6 weeks in July-August. At the end of November, the Queensland students will fly as a group to Germany to pay a return visit to their host-brothers and host-sisters for over 6 weeks. Reciprocal homestays are arranged with volunteer host families in the state of Hessen, at no cost.

Every year up to 30 Queensland students are chosen to go with SAGSE, Qld. Inc. to Germany. Teachers, please direct Interested students of German in Years 10, 11 and 12  to our website ( http://www.sagseqldinc.wordpress.com)  where they can email to receive an Application Form which should be sent, together with a short written piece, giving their reasons for participating in an exchange, and a $250 fee to:

The President, SAGSE Qld Inc, Ms Linda Mains, C/O Kelvin Grove State College, L’Estrange Tce, Kelvin Grove, Brisbane QLD

For an Application Form, or if you have an inquiry, write with your name, age and your school’s name to: sagseqld@tpg.com.au

  1. Happy New Year, Linda!,
    How are you?

Could I please ask for a copy of your 50th Anniversary booklet?

As a past student as well as a chaperone, I would love to have a read and a rememberance of my time that I can share with my classes.

    Many thanks
